Moniz: We Need An Attitude Change, We Must Be Positive

21 April 2015

Manager Ricardo Moniz insists his players must believe and be confident ahead of two home games this week…

The Magpies face Preston North End and Doncaster Rovers at Meadow Lane this week in two crucial fixtures as they look to climb out of the relegation zone.

Notts suffered a huge set-back with the 2-0 loss to relegation rivals Crawley Town on Saturday, but the boss believes his players can bounce back quickly.

He told Magpie Player: “Tomorrow is the ideal opportunity to get that first win.

“It’s about surviving. Dead or alive for the club, for the families, to play for their contracts. If they don’t know it’s that important, then they can go home.

“I take responsibility, we must not give away goals, like a present. The players must be free.

“On Saturday we couldn’t create chances. That’s the problem. We don’t have enough belief we can finish. We have to increase the opportunities and we have to be confident.

“We have analysed the performance and Roy (Carroll) had very little to do, but from there we didn’t kill them, we didn’t hurt them.

“We must start at favourites and not wait for a reaction. I must dominate and be positive. It’s all mental.

“I don’t want stress, I will stress, no one else. if we play bad, have a go at me, no one else. The defenders must defend, the attackers, must create. It’s simple, that’s football. But we must do that task 100%.

“We need an attitude change and I have the confidence the players understand that, and they must, it’s the week of the truth.”
