Magpies Manager Ricardo Moniz ensures there are still nine points to play for, as his side look to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Crawley on Saturday…
It was two goals in as many minutes that succumbed Notts to their first defeat in six games and Moniz believes the side must remain positive going into the final three matches.
Moniz told the Magpie Player: “It is not the first time we conceded so easily. We brought them into the game. The chances they created, weren’t so many. We gave ourselves the problems, the first goal, we did not mark. Too easy the mistakes.
“The first half, the system created chances. We had chances with Gary Jones and Garry Thompson. There were a few shots, but even in the first half we didn’t really create real chances.
“Paddy McCourt with his creativity and Blair Adams with his overlapping qualities came off, and then the youngsters have to do it, and I have to protect them. The team as a result, the responsibilities are with the manager."
“I always take the responsibility, I must protect the players, keep them mentally fit and there are still nine points to win.”
Moniz continued to discuss the character of the Notts side and looked ahead at what the team have to do as they prepare to face Preston North End at Meadow Lane on Tuesday.
He said: “In bad times you learn who has character, and you must not be hectic. Without any individual class, it is very difficult.
“We went behind after the first 15 minutes, with individual mistakes. We must not be negative now, we will stick together. Tuesday is another chance against a fantastic team, who are playing for promotion.
“We have to stick together, we can never give up, especially for all the fans that travelled. We have to prepare and not make these mistakes, we have said it many times.”
