Newly-appointed Notts County Manager Ricardo Moniz spoke to the media on Tuesday and said that he was looking to instil a confidence and freedom in his players over the final six games of the season.
Moniz inherits a side sitting in 22nd place in the Sky Bet League 1 table, just a point from safety, but is confident that he can inspire his players to believe in themselves and get the results that they need during the run-in.
“I think, first of all, it’s a big honour to be at Notts County, a big honour to be in England, I’ve been here before, 10 years ago, time flies, but this is the place I wanted to be,” the Dutchman said after agreeing his three-year deal at Meadow Lane.
“I’m fairly confident, as a person I’m a positive person, everything is about self-confidence, to bring that to the players, to bring that to the crowd.
“Only with a unity and a good energy can we achieve miracles and a miracle must happen because they haven’t won many games and the confidence is fairly tight, so we must raise the bar for ourselves in these six games and it’s my job to realise that,” he added.
“I will say to the players, don’t change for me, be yourself, be confident, trust in your own unique qualities because you have unique qualities and enjoy the game, enjoy winning and have no fear.
“When you have fear, in this stage, because it’s fairly tight, it’s not my philosophy, they must be free but very focused.”
