Moniz: Momentous Occasion This Saturday

23 April 2015

Manager Ricardo Moniz issued this message ahead of Saturday’s crucial match…

Over the course of a lifetime supporting a football club we are exposed to any number of periods of success, uncertainty, confidence, glory and challenges.

During my time in the game I have experienced good and bad periods of team and club performance on and off the pitch and I am always conscious of the personal relationship each and every supporter shares with their own club regardless of personnel changes over the years.

Our love of football and our devoted interest in our clubs performance means huge occasions come along every so often.

This Saturday your team, your club face one of these momentous occasions with Doncaster Rovers visiting us on Saturday in the penultimate round of fixtures for the season.

The bottom line is that we must win.

There is no doubt about the need for three points to retain our position in League 1 and being our final home match it is imperative that we, and I mean WE, the entire club, need to take ownership of Saturdays fixture in all areas.

Absolute and selfless commitment is needed from our team .From our supporters we need you to take the home advantage to a new level in terms of attendance, support, and noise.

Success is measured by our next challenge.

All of the history and our season to this point has been written and has no bearing on Saturdays fixture and our fight to rise out of the relegation zone.

Whilst cup finals, play off finals, derbys, all have special places in our hearts throughout our time supporting our club, getting positive results in matches such as this clash with Doncaster are also about success.

We have one focus this week and that is to win this match and I implore you all to come to the ground, bring friends and colleagues and witness an extremely important match in our clubs history.

Your recognition and acknowledgment of the effort our team played with against the high flying Preston North End in the stands on Tuesday night was genuinely felt and appreciated by everyone here at Meadow Lane.

That energy and unity behind our lads will be instrumental in helping us get a result on Saturday.

You’ve been with the club through tough times and sacrificed plenty.

We have true supporters here rather than fans. We are in for a fight this Saturday and it’s do or die, occasions do not get more important than this and I look forward to seeing you all in big numbers to make this week a SUCCESS.

Ricardo
