Jones: The Silly Goals Killed Us

19 April 2015

Midfielder Gary Jones was clearly disappointed with the away defeat on Saturday…

The former Bradford City man was upset in the manner that the Magpie conceded twice in the first half to Crawley Town in a vital six-pointer.

He apologised to the supporters in the post match interview and told Magpie Player: “Silly goals we keep giving away, it absolutely kills you as a football team.

“It is very hard to come back from when you conceded two in quick succession.

“I apologise to the supporters that made the long trip down, great support and we let them down.

“We need to win and win quick. We are just no doing that. We aren’t giving ourselves chances to win football matches at the moment, the goals we conceded. We never take the lead, we give ourselves a mountain to climb.

“You can’t do that at any level. It is back to the drawing board again and we will try and sort it out on Tuesday. Preston are flying. We are fighting at the other end of the spectrum. It is a massive game Tuesday. We need to roll our sleeves up for that one.”
