Dean Yates Returns As Defensive Coach

10 April 2015

Notts County can confirm that former defender Dean Yates has been added to the coaching staff here at Meadow Lane as First Team Defensive Coach...

Yates made his debut for Notts as a player during the 1984.85 season and went on to spend the next 10 years with the club, making just under 400 appearances and scoring 37 goals in that time.

A big money move to Derby County followed for Yates, before he spent a spell with Watford towards the end of his playing days, but more recently he has been know to Notts fans as co-commentator on BBC Radio Nottingham’s coverage of the club.

The 47-year-old has now been brought in as a defensive coach as part of a new-look coaching team under newly-appointed Manager Ricardo Moniz, which has already seen Dave Kevan return to the club as Assistant Manager.

He travelled with the rest of the squad to Yeovil earlier this afternoon and will be using all his experience to help the team's back-line for another clean sheet this weekend.
