Edwards: Still Undefeated Against The Stags

3 September 2014

Edwards has faced Mansfield Town six times for Notts and still remains unbeaten...

Defender Mike Edwards returned to action for the Magpies on Tuesday night in the 2-0 win in the JPT after re-joining the club as strength and conditioning coach.

The former Carlisle United player slotted back into defence alongside Haydn Hollis and Hayden Mullins and admitted it felt great to be back.

He told Magpie Player: "It's fantastic to be back and play and come and get a win. I'm still undefeated in a Mansfield derby, so I'm happy about that. The reception from everyone has been great, from the supporters to the management and players.

"It was great to get back and play, the first time for a year and it's been a couple years now since playing for Notts.

"It's probably the best I've felt fitness wise. It's great to be out there and it was a fantastic effort tonight.

"It was a sickener on Sunday against Bristol City, but the lads trained brilliantly on Monday and the effort has been top class. They picked themselves up and it was a great team performance to get the right result for the fans.

"I've got to thank the Gaffer and Greg for the opportunity and it's all a bit of a bonus."
