Derry: It's Going To Be A Tough, Tough Day

8 November 2014

Notts County Manager Shaun Derry is taking nothing for granted going into this weekend's FA Cup First Round match against Accrington Stanley...

Notts boss Derry spoke to the media on Friday ahead of Sunday's game and said that, although the opposition this weekend are from a lower division, he is expecting a tough match against a team that have enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence of late.

When asked if the magic of the FA Cup still existed, Derry told the assembled journalists: "It does for me, absolutely. When you come up against a lower opposition as well, we don’t want to be one of them that looks at the papers on Monday morning and doesn’t see our name in it.

"We want to get through and we want to get through in the right way and we’ll absolutely take Accrington with the utmost respect," he added.

"We’ve had them watched and we’ve got reports on them and they’re a very good team, under a Manager that the whole club believes in, so we’re under no illusions, this will be a real, real tough game for us and we’ve got to be on top of our game, that’s for sure.

"It’s going to be a tough, tough day and we need everybody, in terms of on and off the field, the fans have got to play their part as well, just as they have done."
