Derry: It Will Be A Fantastic Occasion

28 November 2014

Manager Shaun Derry returns to his former club tonight...

Notts take on Sheffield United on Friday night, a team that boss Derry knows very well having made the move from the Magpies to the Blades in 1998.

Both teams find themselves in the playoffs and he believes that the game is one of the biggest of the season.

He told Magpie Player: "It will be a really difficult game, but a fantastic occasion. It's one of the biggest games in the calendar.

"We've got a tough run coming up and the squads okay to deal with that.

"Sheffield United have some very passionate fans, it will be a tough night, but we are all looking forward to it. They are the kind of games you want to play.

"League One is strong. It's full of teams that have been in the top division. I'm sure Nigel Clough will want to get his team back up. We will be up against one of the favourites.

"It's a great club. We played them last year and we won 2-1, but it's a big, big game."

Notts completed the loan move for Ryan Hall from Rotherham United on Thursday after learning that Zeli Ismail picked up a long-term injury.

Derry added: "I've known Ryan a long time, since Palace and his career has taken different paths. He's got good ability. He can play on the left and he will do a job for us.

"We are all gutted for Zeli. He was part of our family and we've all been in touch passing on our wishes. We will miss him, he's a big loss."

Gary Jones will be available after having his red card rescinded, as is Mustapha Dumbuya following his international duty.

Winger Zeli Ismail will be out for four months and has returned to Wolves after his loan spell.
