Blair's Blog: Excited To Be Going Back To The Ricoh

13 November 2014

Left-back and aspiring sports journalist Blair Adams writes for the Official Site ahead of Saturday's match against his former side...

Last season, while playing for Coventry City, we were struck with a 10 point deduction before a ball had even been kicked.

Following an opening day defeat to Crawley Town, we surprised many by evading the drop zone after seven games and were storming up the league.

This season, at Notts County, we’ve enjoyed a similar start, having just come off an 11-game unbeaten run. An incredible achievement at any level.

During that run we accumulated six clean sheets. Again, a fantastic achievement and as a defender I’m proud to have been a part of that. Winning breeds confidence and after an excellent start, we’re keen to continue in a similar vein.

Upon signing for Notts at the beginning of the season, I remember saying that League One always has surprise packages and I think up to now we have been that. Our challenge now is to maintain that for the rest of the season.

Notts is a great club to be part of right now. We have a very driven management team who have assembled a motivated squad.

The lads socialise together as well as work together. We often meet up after training for a game of golf, a coffee or a meal and that kind of spirit has transferred onto the pitch where we are fighting for each other.

We’re a close knit group and it has made us a difficult team to beat.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s opponents Coventry City, they have just suffered a disappointing FA Cup exit and knowing the staff and players there like I do, they will be determined to react and as with any other game in this league, it will be a tough contest.

I have no regrets leaving. I have fond memories of the club. The fans, the team there and the stadium, but it was time to move on and I am extremely excited to be going back with Notts, hopefully returning to Meadow Lane with three points!

We want to cement our place as genuine promotion contenders and a win at the Ricoh would be another step in that direction.

Keep an eye on the Official Site for further articles from the defender as he continues his sports journalism degree.
