Throwback Thursday: John Chiedozie's FA Cup Finish Against Everton

22 May 2014

This week's Throwback Thursday photograph sees Notts County legend John Chiedozie celebrating a goal against Everton in the FA Cup.

Chiedozie's close-range strike arrived in the 1983.84 FA Cup Sixth Round meeting between the sides at Meadow Lane.

The photo also displays the home of The World's Oldest Football League Club before its makeover in the 1990s, including the roofless Kop Stand, which sees plenty of fans getting a better view of the game.

We're not sure fans would manage that nowadays without getting pulled up by health and safety!

Notts lost the fixture 2-1 after Chiedozie had made it 1-1 in front of 19,534 - around 50 per cent of them from Everton.

We've dug the game out of the archives and you can view it on Magpie Player by clicking here.

The club would like to thank Bowles Associates and the Nottingham Post for supporting the NCFC History archives.

Look out for more classic photographs every Thursday.
