Shaun Derry Wants Fans To Roar Notts County To Victory At Boundary Park

2 May 2014

Manager Shaun Derry is looking forward to seeing the Black & White Army invade Boundary Park when Notts County face Oldham Athletic on the final day.

The Magpies need a point to almost guarantee a place in Sky Bet League 1 for next season and well over 3,000 fans will be making the trip.

Derry hopes that the bolstered support can create a home atmosphere for his side and that the recent Meadow Lane turnaround, which has seen Notts win five on the bounce on home soil, can be taken on the road.

He told the press: “I can only say that when we’ve had the backing of the faithful at Meadow Lane, they’ve really roared us on.

“To take the best part of 3-3,500 over to Oldham is immense, it really is, and I’ve got to thank every one of them because it costs a lot of money to watch football nowadays.

“We’ve seen some ups and downs this year but I’m absolutely chuffed with the amount of numbers that are going over there - it’s a massive positive for us.

“We want the lads to be empowered by the occasion so to see the 3-3,500 Notts fans over there, I want it to drive them on even more.

“Players want to play in front of fans and to have that support away from home is brilliant - I can’t wait for the game.”
