Manager Shaun Derry has paid tribute to loan duo Callum McGregor and Jack Grealish for the impact they have had on Notts County’s season.
McGregor scored 14 times in the Black and White stripes, whereas Grealish was central to so many of County’s goals with his exciting offensive play.
The duo have now returned to their parent clubs, Celtic and Aston Villa respectively, and Derry has given them both glowing references.
“Such a huge amount of responsibility have been put on Jack and Callum in particular,” he said.
“Josh [Vela] has come in and been at the centre of all our good results and he’s done very well.
“If I’m looking at Jack and Callum, what an education for them - what a year they’ve had.
“It will lead them into a direction where I’m sure they’ll be playing at the top of their level.
“They’re fantastic people and they’re great lads to have play for me and as players I think they’re brilliant.”
Talks are ongoing with the club’s out of contract players and a retained list is set to be announced this week.
