The groundstaff have had a busy start to the week with the Meadow Lane pitch renovations starting...
Following on from the final Notts Ladies home match on Sunday before their break, an inch was taken off the top of the surface on Monday morning.
The staff will have nine weeks to ensure it's ready for the first game on July 20 when Notts Ladies take on Birmingham.
Stadium Manager Greg Smith spoke to the Official Site about the work.
He said: "We aren't doing too much differently to last summer. Next year we will have more time to work on the pitch and have a major renovation, four years since our last.
"We are taking an inch off from the top of the surface and we will clean up the black layer that you get from the moisture.
"Then we will open it up, break it up and verti-drain the pitch.
"The intention is then to seed it and top dress it.
"We are adding a bit of fibre to a couple of areas, just infront of the dugouts and also in the six yard box at the Meadow Lane end, we've noticed a few dips to the surface.
"That should all be completed by Thursday.
"We've started two days earlier than last year. This summer we will have nine weeks to work on the pitch and it will be down to Trevor (Hutchinson, Head Groundsman) and Jack (Farmer, Groundsman) to then grow it, to get it up and running for July 20.
"We will be keeping an eye on the forecast and it's an exciting and busy time for us all. We are also working on improvements around the ground and also work at the training ground.
"We are also planning well ahead, which is great.
"We were all dead proud of our work last year. The pitch is heavily used, as we all know, but every game was on, we had no postponements in either the mens, ladies or the rugby. Let's hope for the same next season."
