Kyle Dixon was thrilled to sign a new deal with the Magpies, a football club he has supported all his life...
The former Academy graduate has signed a new one-year contract and admitted it didn’t take long for him to sign on the dotted line.
Dixon also revealed that Manager Shaun Derry will be working closely with him during pre-season as he changes his position from midfield to a full-back.
The youngster told Magpie Player: “To get another year I’m over the moon. It’s what I wanted so it’s a dream come true. The longer I can get here the better.
“I signed the contract offer as soon as I got it and I’m so pleased to be playing for my club.
“I’ve played right-back previously in last season’s Development Squad games against Derby and Forest and the Gaffer thought I did well, so I’m happy with that. I will play whatever position, left-back, right-back, centre half, as long as I am in the team.
“My former Youth Team Manager Michael Johnson had previously suggested the position to me and I can’t wait to learn as much as I can and do the best I can for the team.
“In that position I can get stuck in, give 100% and get forward too. Hopefully it will suit me right to the ground. I love a tackle and I have a bit of an engine, so I can’t wait to start a new challenge and be in the Gaffer’s team as much as I can.”
