Youth Team Bounce Back With 4-0 Win

26 March 2014

Notts County youth team bounced back from a disappointing weekend defeat by putting four past Scunthorpe United.

Victory was secured on Tuesday afternoon thanks to goals from striker Colby Bishop, Kieran Geldenhuys and Elliot Brown (2).

Head of Academy coaching Andy McMillan was delighted to see his players respond in style.

He said: “It was an excellent win and a complete reverse of what happened at Lincoln.

“The lads played the right way and everything went to plan.

“The attitude was there, the work ethic and the work rate and we defended well too and got the ball down and played.

“It’s always pleasing to get a clean sheet after a heavy defeat and I thought conceding six on Saturday was a bit harsh on the lads, but we didn’t mark and the defending was sloppy.

“I’ve got to give credit to the lads, they were prepared and organised and all did a job.”

He added: “It was also brilliant to look behind the goal and see a group of fans chanting, singing throughout and getting right behind the players.

“The players were delighted and it really was different class.

“Massive thanks to them for making the effort and we were delighted to send them to Crewe happy.”
