Tyson: Survival Would Match Promotion

4 March 2014

Striker Nathan Tyson believes that keeping Notts County in Sky Bet League 1 would feel like gaining promotion.

Tyson jumped at the chance to join the Magpies on a one-month loan deal from Championship Blackpool having been eager to play regular first team football again.

The 31-year-old has proven to be a vital source of goals for the likes of Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers down the years.

Tyson now hopes to fire County up the table and away from the bottom four in the remaining 12 games.

He told Magpie Player: “I’ve got my own agenda while I’m here and hopefully that can help us climb the table.

“It’s going to be a fantastic challenge to myself and I’m relishing playing football.

“It must be hard seeing all the teams in the East Midlands doing quite well but if we can get out of this sticky patch it will be just as good as promotion in my eyes.

“It spurs me on because it’s a fantastic challenge and although the team are rock bottom but we’re not a million miles away from it.

“There’s only a few points in it and it’s a great opportunity for players that have not done too well to work hard.

“I’m itching to get going and I’m really looking forward to it.

“When I heard about this last week there was a big smile on my face, it’s great news and to come here and play football is a great opportunity for myself.”

Tyson is in contention to make his Notts debut in this weekend’s encounter with Leyton Orient. For full ticket details, click here.
