‘Mine Was Better’ Says Hollis

23 March 2014

Defender Haydn Hollis was all smiles on Saturday evening after he opened his Football League account with two goals in Notts County’s triumph over Carlisle United.

Hollis made the most of Notts’ set plays with goals either side of the break, as a close-range opener was followed by a tremendous glancing header.

The 21-year-old produced a Man of the Match display in the 4-1 victory and showed why he has held onto his shirt after being introduced to the side against MK Dons earlier this month.

When questioned about his goals, Hollis declared that his opener was better than Gary Liddle’s spectacular scissor kick.

He said: “I thought mine was better - only joking.

“In all honesty I think I scuffed it and I wished I’d gone for the bicycle!

“I’m a big lad and I’ve got to use it to our advantage and get in the right places in both boxes, because set plays win and lose you games in both boxes.

“I didn’t know too much about the second, I just threw myself at the ball but Sheez’s deliveries are unbelievable and I thought ‘go and attack the ball’.”
