Dixon Makes His Mark

4 March 2014

If there was something to remember from the weekend it was Kyle Dixon’s Football League debut for Notts County.

Dixon was introduced on the 30-minute mark in Saturday’s Sky Bet League 1 encounter with Rotherham United and went on to earn the Man of the Match award for a committed display.

The passionate midfielder had worked hard for his opportunity, having proved himself during loan spells with Grantham Town and Boston United.

Manager Shaun Derry was delighted with the youth team graduate and will be keeping him at Meadow Lane for the fight against the drop.

“I was really pleased with him and if you can take a positive from the weekend it was Kyle,” said Derry.

“I was delighted for Kyle, he’s been on loan to Grantham and done himself and his family justice.

“Then he went on loan to Boston and, again, did himself and his family justice.

“He came on against Rotherham and we hope to see him again because he’s a pleasure to work with every day.

“He’s a local lad and he knows what it means to be a player for Notts County."

He continued: “I’m not going to say he’s going to be the difference between now and the end of the season, it’d be unfair of me to put the pressure on his shoulders.

“He’s going to be in and around it and involved daily because I like those kinds of kids, they’re great to work with.

“I just want him to come and enjoy it and there was no pressure on him when he’d gone on at 4-0.

“I just wanted him to go and have a run around and experience what is a great stadium and a good level of football and he deserved it.”

Dixon is expected to feature in the matchday squad again when Notts take on Leyton Orient at Meadow Lane. For full ticket details, click here.
