Manager Shaun Derry has called for Notts County fans to put their grievances to one side and get behind their team in this weekend’s encounter with Leyton Orient.
Derry understands supporters’ frustrations on the back of a heavy defeat at the hands of Rotherham United last weekend.
However, negativity will not assist the Magpies in their fight for Sky Bet League 1 survival and the Black and White Army have a part to play against one of the division’s pace setters.
“We’re going to need everybody to support us on Saturday because it’s a great opportunity for us to show everybody once again that it was a one off,” he told the press.
“We’ve had too many ‘one offs’, of course we have, because we’ve been hit heavily a few times since I’ve been here.
“For us it’s been a roller coaster number of years now and we find ourselves where we are because of that."
He continued: “This is us now as a collective group - manager, coaching staff, players, fans, local press - we are where we are because it’s not been right and it’s time now it stops.
“It’s only lads now that can get us out of it and I’m pleading for support this weekend.
“I know there’s going to be a number of people coming here with a sense of anger and frustration at the football club.
“Please harness that and channel it in the right ways because we really do need everybody connected with the football club to make sure that we get where we want to be.
“I wouldn’t say that - I’ve thought long and hard about it this week - but come into the ground and support the lads because they need it - we all need it.
“Anything other than positive support will have an adverse effect on us out there - I know that because I know what’s in the building.”
