Hayden Mullins Wants No More Need For Great Escapes

11 June 2014

Summer signing Hayden Mullins hopes to play a role turning Notts County’s fortunes around in the new season.

In the latter stages of 2013.14, the Magpies squad had to overcome the pressures of potential relegation to guide the club to Sky Bet League 1 safety.

Although a remarkable finish to the campaign that was concluded with The Great Escape, Mullins is determined not to go through the same again.

The centre-back, who will become a permanent Notts player on 1 July when his contract with Birmingham City expires, has targeted a top half finish.

He said: “The pressure heading into the games was huge and I remember going into games here knowing that you have to win to get anywhere close to getting out of the bottom four.

“Pressures like that going into games is what you don’t need as players, you want to be able to go out there and play your game and win football matches.

“We managed to get out of it and it’s something that we don’t want to repeat again.

“I think we can achieve as much as we want to achieve next year - consistency is the key.

“The manager and staff will have a plan of where we want to go and how we attack it.

“I think that if we play to our potential then we can be in the top half of the table.”
