Shaun Derry Targets Widemen As Notts County Squad Takes Shape

3 July 2014

Manager Shaun Derry is working hard on bringing widemen into Notts County as he looks to finalise his squad ahead of the new season.

Derry is pleased with how the Magpies are shaping up for the 2014.15 campaign but feels like he is a couple of players shy of the complete bunch.

The number seven and 11 shirts remain available and the management team are eager to fill them with quality ahead of the campaign curtain raiser against Preston North End at Deepdale.

“I think we’re two players short and people will make up their own judgements in terms of what positions they are,” Derry told Magpie Player.

“I’m looking at the wide areas as an absolute must to look at players.

“You never know, sometimes something might come available in that last week when Premier League teams have been back and looked at their squads.

“Championship teams will have had their squads together for four or five weeks and will look at it and realise that one or two might be able to make way.

“That might be the time when we might be able to get that bonus player.”
