Jake Cassidy Aims To Recreate His Tranmere Rovers Success With Notts County

31 July 2014

Jake Cassidy’s 2012.13 loan spell with Tranmere Rovers could not have gone any better and the Wolverhampton Wanderers striker aims to make his time with Notts County just as successful.

Cassidy spent the first six months of that campaign at Prenton Park and scored 11 goals in 26 league appearances.

The Welsh Under-21 international ended his loan stint in January 2013 and Rovers sat three points clear at the top of League 1 - against all odds.

Cassidy is currently rebuilding his match sharpness and is determined to begin the season on a high in a Magpies shirt.

“I did it at Tranmere when I went the first time and I left them at top of the league when nobody expected them to be anywhere near the top that season,” he told Magpie Player.

“Hopefully we can replicate that here, get some goals, perform well, kick on for a good season and give the fans some happy times.

“I’ve had a few spells at Tranmere and done well and if we can get a good start to the season and get some balls into the box, I’m sure I can get some goals.

“I’m part of the team and, like everyone else, I just want a successful season.”

Cassidy knew that he wanted to be part of the Notts squad after speaking with manager Shaun Derry and his assistant Greg Abbott.

He continued: “Immediately after I spoke to the gaffer on the phone and also Greg about their plans and they really enticed me to come and I’m excited to be a part of that.

“I think they want an old fashioned number nine really and the club’s been crying out for one, so hopefully I can fill that void.”

Cassidy is set for action again when County face Osasuna on Friday evening at Meadow Lane. For full ticket details, click here.
