David James Estate Agents have expressed their delight at being named as the winners of the annual Notts County Kop Stand Draw.
A wide collection of local and national businesses entered into the competition for the chance to take over the naming rights of The Kop Stand for the 2014.15 campaign.
Representatives from each company were invited to place their logos onto the pitch and manager Shaun Derry kicked a ball that decided the winner ahead of the Magpies’ pre-season encounter with Derby County.
The gaffer’s punt landed closest to the David James Estate Agents logo, meaning their branding will take over from On-Call Recruitment - last year’s winners.
David James Estate Agents director James Roys was in attendance for the draw and allowed his three-year-old son, Jack, a member of Team Magpies, to choose the location of the company logo on his first visit to Meadow Lane.
James, along with his brother, David Radford, who is also a part owner of the family run business, are long-time Notts fans and season ticket holders in the Derek Pavis Stand.
James cannot wait to see the David James logo proudly displayed in the new season, starting with the Sky Bet League 1 fixture with Fleetwood Town on Saturday 18 August.
“It’s a fantastic idea and you’ve always got a chance, but we entered the draw in hope rather than expectation,” James told the official site.
“As season ticket holders, we really wanted to do something that could associate our company with the club.
“It’s really exciting and we’re really looking forward to hearing the Wheelbarrow Song blasting out of The Kop and then looking up to see our name above.
“As ardent fans and local businessmen, it’s something that we’re very proud of and it means a lot to us - it’s not just a commercial opportunity.”
Notts County commercial advisor Damian Irvine welcomed David James Estate Agents as the new sponsor of The Kop Stand.
Damian added: "To see the support of so many local, national and even some international businesses this season has been really encouraging for the club.
"A large percentage of the participants were new partners to Notts County and we welcome then with open arms in joining our loyal family of longer term sponsors.
"That a family company based locally won is a great result and typifies the clubs focus on promoting and supporting local Nottinghamshire commerce and community.”
The club would like to thank all of the entrants into the 2014.15 Kop Stand Draw, who will be proudly displayed in the Stand and here on nottscountyfc.co.uk.
