McGregor To Make Up For Lost Time

27 January 2014

Returning top-scorer Callum McGregor is eager to play a big part in keeping Notts County in Sky Bet League 1 by scoring plenty more goals.

The Celtic forward made his first Magpies appearance since New Year’s Day on Saturday, after signing a new loan deal with the club that will keep him at Meadow Lane until the end of the season.

Although Notts were beaten 5-1 by Play-Off contenders Walsall, McGregor marked his return with another spectacular finish – a 25-yard free-kick into the top-left corner.

The Scotland Under-21 international had doubted whether he would pull on the Black and White stripes again, having been linked with numerous clubs, but was relieved to finally get back out in front of the County fans.

“It’s been a tough month and I’ve been trying to keep myself training and fit and hope that the deal went through,” said McGregor.

“I’ve missed three games but I want to make up for lost time and try to score a few more goals.

“Hopefully I can get another 10 and I got one on Saturday, so hopefully I can keep doing well for the team and put the weekend’s bad result behind us.

“I’ve had a great six months here and everyone at the club has been excellent with me.

“I was enjoying my football so I was determined to get back in to try an get that run going, as there’s nothing better when you’re doing well and scoring goals.

“There was a bit of speculation but I wanted to see out the rest of the season with Notts County.”
