New signing Jimmy Spencer’s Notts County debut could not have gone much better, after he scored and claimed the Man of the Match award.
Spencer scored the Magpies’ second goal in the impressive 3-0 win over Coventry City at Meadow Lane.
The striker’s hold-up play and energy in attack had quickly won over the County faithful, who were delighted to see him cap off the performance with an outstanding 25-yard hit into the top corner.
Spencer was delighted to have made such a big impact in his first appearance in the Black and White stripes.
He said: “It’s a great feeling, I’ve said to myself I’m going to give 100 per cent and try to score as many goals as I can.
“I’ve given 100 per cent and scored a goal so what more can I ask for?
“I was happy with my overall performance but I’ve got to thank the lads for that, they were helping me in behind me putting good balls in.
“That’s what I’m there for – that’s my job – and I was happy with my performance.
“I’ve had my chance and I feel like done alright and taken it so hopefully I can kick on from here now.”
