Spencer Relishing Massive Game

18 February 2014

Striker Jimmy Spencer is relishing a return to Meadow Lane on Saturday afternoon when Notts County face Shrewsbury Town in a Sky Bet League 1 six pointer.

Spencer scored and claimed the Man of the Match award in the Magpies’ last Meadow Lane encounter – a 3-0 triumph over Coventry City.

This weekend, Notts prepare for the biggest game of the campaign against another side scrapping for their lives at the bottom of the table.

Spencer was left disappointed on a personal and team level after the loss to high-flying Wolverhampton Wanderers but is focused on a big response against the Shrews on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

“We’re going to do everything we can to win and I’m confident that we can get the win,” he said.

“We’re doing what’s needed to win games, against Coventry for an example, though Wolves was a bit of a mishap if you like.

“They’re a good side and you’ve got to hold your hands up sometimes.

“We weren’t at our best – I wasn’t and neither was the team.”

He added: “If we can go again to get the performance levels back up to those produced against Coventry then I see no reason why we can’t get the points.

“Every game now is like a cup final and you’ve got to into these games believing you’re going to win and that you’re going to dominate and come out with them points.

“We need to get out of this relegation zone and we can do that by beating the teams around us.”

Spencer is our feature interview in this weekend’s edition of the award winning matchday magazine.
