Minute's Applause For Tony Hateley

6 February 2014

Notts County Football Club will be paying tribute to former striker Tony Hateley, who sadly passed away last weekend aged 72, ahead of this weekend’s game against Coventry City.

Tony made 207 appearances across two spells for the Magpies, between 1958-1962 and 1970-71, and became a Meadow Lane legend.

‘Big Tone’, as he was affectionately named for his aerial prowess and stature, netted 114 goals in the Black and White stripes and remains the second highest scorer in the club’s history.

He also spent a year with this Saturday's opponents, between 1968-1969, where he scored four goals in 17 appearances.

Supporters of both teams will be able to pay their respects to Tony with a minute’s applause ahead of the 3pm kick-off.
