Jones: Never Got To Grips With The Game After Soft Goal

29 December 2014

Gary Jones returned to his former club Bradford City, but left disappointed in a 1-0 defeat...

The midfielder admitted it was a lack of communication by his team-mates that ended the club’s impressive unbeaten away run.

The Magpies had been the only club in the Football League to remain unbeaten on the road, before Billy Knott struck before the break for City.

Jones told Magpie Player: “I’m massively disappointed that the run has ended, especially with the goal we conceded.

“It was a terrible goal to give away just before half-time. It’s hard to come here and get a result at the best of times, but to give away such a soft goal it was disappointing and we never got to grips after that.

“I had two great years with Gaz Thompson and it was great to be back, but it was massively disappointing to lose the game, because I really want to every game I play.

“It was a lack of communication that cost us and our unbeaten run goes with that.

“We all keep going. I play 100% or nothing and we all give our all.

“My legs are feeling alright. I already can’t wait for the next game. I want to play every game and the Gaffer has been fantastic for me, I’ve got plenty of respect for him.

“We’ve now got a break and it doesn’t get any easier with Bristol City away, but I would rather we play next weekend and to get this loss out of the way. I’d play again tomorrow if I could.”
