Injured winger Zeli Ismail has returned to his parent club...
Wolves wireman Zeli Ismail has undergone surgery to repair his cartilage and will be sidelined for approximately four to six months.
The 20-year-old impressive loan spell with the club therefore came to an end, and he will be back at Wolves for treatment.
Ismail had enjoyed his time at Meadow Lane and helped the Magpies to the top end of the Sky Bet League One table, scoring four goals in 16 appearances.
He told the Official Site: “I picked up the injury at a time when I was playing and things were going really well both for me and the team.
“We were third in the table at the time and I had managed to chip in with a few goals.
“Unfortunately it keeps me out for four to six months, which is pretty much the rest of the season.
“No one wants an injury like this but it is part of football.
“You have to be strong and positive and get through it.
“There will be times when you are feeling low and feeling down but then you have to look on the bright side and at the bigger picture.”
“I loved playing there, and any player will tell you he loves playing week-in, week-out."
“I learned a lot from playing regularly. We were on a good run and it just kept going and we didn’t want it to end.
“Last year the team battled to avoid relegation but they have done really well this season thanks to all the staff and the players.
“I’m very grateful for the time I had there and I’ll certainly be checking their results from now on.
“I want to thank the manager and the players, and the fans for all the support they showed me while I was there, and wish them all the best for the rest of the season.”
The club would like to thank Zeli for his performances this season and wish him all the best for his recovery and the future.
