Don Masson and John Mounteney are to be inducted into the Notts County Hall of Fame at our Sky Bet League 1 game against Swindon Town later this month.
Former midfielder Masson will be in attendance at the game, whilst Honorary Lifetime Vice-President John Mounteney, who tragically passed away earlier this year, will be represented by his family for the special presentation.
BBC Radio Nottingham’s Colin Slater will host the event, which will form the base of our pre-match hospitality for the game against high-flying Swindon, with both club legends rightfully taking their place in the club’s Hall of Fame, which was established as part of our 150th anniversary celebrations in 2012.
Former inductees include Jimmy Sirrel, Tommy Lawton, Jackie Sewell and Colin Slater himself, who have all made a significant contribution to Notts County, which is certainly true of our latest two inductees.
Don Masson’s performances on the pitch were truly outstanding, having captained Notts County to three promotions and made over 440 appearances for the club, in two spells, scoring 96 goals, including 23 in one season, during the 1969.70 campaign.
John Mounteney meanwhile devoted a large part of his life to the club and Notts owe him an incredible debt of gratitude, having served as long-term Vice-Chairman and contributed so much over the years, it was testament to his legacy at Meadow Lane how hard the club felt his passing back in August.
So it is with great pleasure that the club are able to recognise the contribution that both Don and John have made to Notts County over the years by inducting them into the Hall of Fame and you can join us to share in the occasion.
With some fantastic packages available, why not enjoy our award-winning hospitality as we celebrate the achievements of two very special Notts men ahead of what promises to be a great game between two of the season’s big success stories so far.
