Halsall: Very Pleasing To Beat League Leaders

2 December 2014

Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall praised his side after the 2-0 win...

Goals from midfielders Luther Wildin and Lartey Sarpong gave the Magpies a fantastic 2-0 away win against table toppers Hull City last Saturday.

The victory moves Notts into fifth and they could close down the Tigers further with another three points on Wednesday, when they face Grimsby Town.

Halsall told the Official Site: "It was a good win, obviously against the league leaders and it was good to turn around the home defeat against them earlier this year.

"From a 3-0 home defeat against them at the start of the campaign, to a 2-0 away win is very pleasing.

"Our play was great to watch, despite finding it difficult in the first 20 minutes. The lads stuck at it and took the lead through Luther, after good play down our left.

"We then managed the half. They were more of a force going forward, but we got that crucial second goal and we made it sure. We stopped them showing a cutting edge and we should have probably gone on and won the game by a bigger scoreline.

"The lads stayed in the game early on and we turned that to our advantage."

The Magpies are back in action on Wednesday at the Eagle Valley Stadium. For details please click here.
