Shaun Derry was a proud man after seeing his side beat Doncaster Rovers 1-0 on Tuesday evening...
Notts County Manager Shaun Derry couldn’t hide his delight after seeing his side book their place in the Northern Area Semi-Final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy with a 1-0 win at Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night.
Having seen his side take the lead in the 74th minute, thanks to a Liam Noble goal, Derry was delighted that his players hung on for an important victory, saying afterwards: “I’m really proud, of course I am. It was a game that we wanted to win.
“We wanted to come here and obviously compete against a big club that’s just come down from the Championship, but it’s a competition that we’ve taken seriously all season and I think that’s obviously borne out by the team that I picked tonight.
“I’m really proud of them, once again, I thought the shape and the discipline and the understanding of how we wanted to play was to the tee really,” he added.
“It’s sometimes like a broken record for me, but I have to say all the time, I need all 11 out there.
“There were some really disappointed people back at Meadow Lane, not even made the trip, but I know that they’ll be all please and proud of the lads who have done a job tonight.”
