Club Podiatrist Joins Medical Department

4 December 2014

Paul Johnson is the latest medical expert to join Notts' sport medicine department…

Johnson has 18-years in the industry and will bring a wealth of knowledge for players and staff regarding medical issues.

Head of Sports Medicine John Wilson said: "It's great to have this relationship with Paul, he will bring a lot to us being a specialist in his field.

"It's important to ensure that the tools, the feet of these players are well looked after and make sure they understand foot health for short and long term.

"He's already been working with a few players and he's making a big impact with them. It's going really well."

The Podiatrist has clinics in Manchester, Sheffield and Huddersfield and works closely with golfers, runners, rugby players and triathletes.

He also currently works with Burnley FC, Sheffield Eagles Rugby League, as well as treating players from Manchester City Ladies, Halifax and Widnes Rugby League.

Johnson added: "I'm a foot and ankle specialist, so I can look at mechanical issues and problems from the hip down that can affect the players in this high impact sport.

"Minor issues can have major problems for players, so if we can stop a player being injured or by improving injury recovery then it's massive for the club. We screen the players in detail and with the help of John Wilson and his team is that we all sit together and discuss together.

"Hopefully I can chip in and hopefully get players back quicker and available for selection."
