Abbott: Challenging Few Weeks Ahead

12 December 2014

The Magpies have five games in two and half weeks and Assistant Manager Greg Abbott is expecting a tough few weeks…

Notts currently sit outside the playoffs and face second placed Swindon Town at Meadow Lane this Saturday.

Abbott has been impressed with the Robins this season and isn't surprised to see them challenging for promotion.

He told Magpie Player: "I'm expecting an absolute difficult game against a team that's bang in form.

"They have done things quietly and they have a group there that been cleverly put together.

"They are organised and play with a different system, they will be a threat up front and they have a bit of quality in midfield, so we will have to be at our best.

"We want to keep what we are doing, going. The depth of the squad is good, but it will be challenged in the next few weeks.

"We will also need the fans with us and at their best as well. If they give a good performance then it will spread onto the pitch. They've been great for us since we've arrived. We've had our better results away from home, but I want to show them that we can do it at Meadow Lane too.

"Teams are coming here and they don't want to be beaten by a side that's well drilled, it's nice to hear that. We've had some good performances against some of the top teams and we have some fantastic games coming up.

"It's a tough game ahead."

Abbott also revealed that Captain Hayden Mullins returned to training on Thursday and could be in contention of the festive fixtures.
