Former Manchester United Goalkeeper Roy Carroll Signs For Notts County

4 August 2014

Notts County Football Club is delighted to welcome Roy Carroll to the squad, after the former Manchester United and Olympiakos goalkeeper agreed a one-year contract at Meadow Lane.

Carroll has been issued the number one jersey and is set to make his competitive debut for the Magpies in the Sky Bet League 1 2014.15 season opener against Preston North End at Deepdale on Saturday.

The 36-year-old, who has been capped 35 times for Northern Ireland,  brings a wealth of experience to the squad having made over 400 professional appearances throughout his career, which has also included stints with Hull City, Wigan Athletic, Derby County, Rangers and West Ham.

Carroll has impressed County fans with his two pre-season displays, against FC Halifax Town and CA Osasuna, and the news that he was set to sign was hugely welcomed at the club’s open day.

The club’s latest arrival has already been sponsored for the forthcoming campaign by John White (full kit), Steve Pullen (training kit) and Connor Brothers (boots and socks).

You can officially welcome Roy to the club on Twitter using the hashtag #welcomeroy.

Look out for Carroll’s first interview on Magpie Player soon.
