Join former Notts County striker Mick Waitt and enjoy our award-winning hospitality at a discounted rate...
The day after flying 11,000 miles from New Zealand, where he now lives, former Magpies’ centre forward Mick Waitt will be the special guest at our home game against Crewe on Saturday 5 October.
It will be a pleasure to welcome back the rangy striker who, though born in Hexham, Northumberland, signed for Notts from Keyworth United in 1984 for a £500 fee.
So it’s no exaggeration to say he’s a local boy who did well.
The former electrician at Plessey’s made his debut at Wimbledon on Boxing Day in the same year and completed a total of 83 league and cup appearances, scoring a creditable 32 goals.
The 1985.86 season, with 18 league and cup goals, was his best.
It was a year in which his partnership with Ian McParland (scorer of 20 goals) really flourished.
Between them they scored eight FA Cup goals, helping the club to progress to round five while operating at the third tier in the league.
Mick’s height (6ft 4ins) was a big factor in unsettling opposing defences.
In New Zealand he’s had two contrasting jobs – one as coach to the national team and the other as a police officer.
He will be recalling his Notts days and talking about his life in New Zealand in conversation with Colin Slater in Wheeler’s Suite, before kick-off against Crewe.
He will also visit the vice-presidents in the Masson Suite and be introduced to the crowd.
You can join Mick at a special, discounted rate of just £45 in our award-winning pre-match Platinum Hospitality, which also includes a complimentary copy of #themag and teamsheet, an executive seat, a three-course meal and access to the Man of the Match presentations.
Make sure you are part of the experience by booking your place by calling 0115 9557 241.
