Liddle Wants Momentum Ahead Of MK

3 September 2013

Defender Gary Liddle sees Tuesday night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash with Burton Albion as a massive game for the Magpies.

Notts are still chasing their first Sky Bet League 1 win and face a tough trip to stadium:mk on Saturday 14 September, following a weekend off due to international call-ups.

Burton are expected to provide a stern test for County, having started the season unbeaten – aside from a penalty shoot-out loss to Premier League Fulham.

Liddle feels that a positive performance and result against the Brewers can leave the team in a confident mood ahead of some big league encounters.

“We’re all desperate for a victory, no matter what competition it is,” he told Magpie Player.

“Whether you have to or not, the manager will play his strongest team possible because we all need that win.

“To get it against Burton, who are doing well, will do well for confidence.

“It’s a competition we all want to do well in because the end prize is a trip to Wembley.

“But, our bread and butter is the league and we haven’t had too good of a start in that, so we’ll be going into this game taking it very seriously.

“It’s a game that we want to win and it’s a game if we do win we can take the confidence into MK Dons.”
