Hodge Pleased With Team Performance

25 September 2013

Development squad coach was delighted with the way that his side performed in the 3-0 triumph over Doncaster Rovers development squad.

A Ronan Murray brace and an Adam Coombes finish gave the Magpies a deserved win at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The County development squad will now face Coventry City in the second round of the FA Premier League Under-21 Cup.

Hodge felt that his team needed to make an impression after a disappointing result against Crewe Alexandra two weeks prior and was happy to see them deliver across the board.

“The result aside, I was pleased with the result because we were a team and I think everybody got seven or eight out of 10,” he told the official site.

“The players responded from the Crewe loss, worked harder and got their rewards.

“I think we could have won by more on the day.”

He continued: “I look at general play and, in particular, the performances of players and ask whether they’re improving where they play on the pitch.

“It’s a gradual process and it won’t happen overnight, it will take months and months to get these players hopefully into the first team.

“On Tuesday, a lot of those players played at a high level and it’s up to them to take that into the first team arena when they step up in training.”
