Three Magpies’ players were in action again this week on the international scene.
Midfielder Greg Tempest and on-loan forward Callum McGregor were both in UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifier action for Northern Ireland and Scotland respectively.
On Monday, McGregor played 90 minutes as Scotland Under-21s were beaten 2-1 by their Georgia counterparts.
Tuesday saw Tempest used as a 69th minute substitute in Northern Ireland’s 3-1 loss at the hands of Serbia Under-21s.
Elsewhere, development squad defender Jordan Holt was an unused sub in Wales Under-21s’ 4-0 victory over San Marino Under-21s.
On-loan striker Marcus Haber also watched on from the bench as Canada were defeated 3-0 by Australia in a friendly encounter at Craven Cottage.
In the final international match involving a County player, Andre Boucaud started for Trinidad & Tobago in their goalless draw with New Zealand.
All internationals will now return to Meadow Lane ahead of Friday night’s encounter with Swindon Town.
