Defender Gary Liddle was relieved to hear the sound of music in the changing rooms after Notts County’s 3-2 triumph over Oldham Athletic.
Notts had to dig deep for the three points, especially during the closing 20 minutes when the Latics threw everything they had at the Magpies’ goal
Despite fielding a young side, which included five players under the age of 20 in the starting 11, County weathered the storm to secure a vital win for the club.
On the back of three consecutive losses, the victory lifted the Magpies off the foot of the table and raised spirits in the stands.
“We were under the cosh a little bit and the lads put their bodies on the line, but it’s a happy dressing room,” Liddle told the press.
“It’s a happy feeling that we haven’t had too many times this season but the lads are elated.
“We’ve had the music on after the game, which we don’t have too often.
“It’s been a tough week for obvious reasons and we were under a bit of pressure going into this game.
“We said to ourselves that we had nothing to lose and there were a lot of potential managers and coaches watching.
“It was a chance for the lads to impress and we dug in to get the result.”
