McGregor Over Half Way

6 October 2013

Man of the Match Callum McGregor says that he is half way to his goals target set by manager Chris Kiwomya.

McGregor delivered a sensational performance in the Magpies’ 4-0 triumph over Crewe Alexandra on Saturday afternoon.

The on-loan Celtic forward now has six goals across all competitions and is determined to keep hitting the back of the net to help County climb the Sky Bet League 1 table.

“I was speaking to the gaffer about it the other day and he was trying to say get to 10 so that’s my aim,” he said.

“I’m over halfway there so hopefully I can continue that and get a few more goals.

“I’m continuing the run from a couple of weeks ago and getting a few goals, so I’m confident.

“It was two good finishes and that set the marker for the rest of the game.”

He continued: “I was speaking to Mick Jones (assistant manager) during the week and he said that once you get one goal, then the confidence builds and you can start to get a few more, so hopefully that’s the case with me.

“After the first half goals I was in the changing room asking the boys to get the ball to me so that I could try to get the hat-trick.

“Unfortunately it didn’t come but it’s good to get the three points and it takes us up the table a wee bit.

“We can’t rest on that, we’ve got to get as far up the table as we can with good performances ruthless finishing.”
