Fans Can Inspire Youths’ Turnaround

11 October 2013

Head of Academy coaching Andy McMillan has called for supporters to get behind the youth team in this weekend’s fixture with Scunthorpe United.

Due to the international break, there is no first team action for Notts this Saturday, meaning that Under-18s football is a great way for fans get their County fix.

Although performances have been encouraging in recent weeks, the young Magpies have been unable to find that winning momentum.

McMillan hopes that the home faithful can play their part at Highfields, just like they have with the senior squad’s turnaround in fortunes.

He told Magpie Player: “It would be absolutely fantastic if we could get some fans down to watch, to see what’s coming through the system and that we’re trying to do the right things.

“The first team have turned a corner and that’s exactly what we’re after with the youth team.

“I remember the Grimsby game and a lot of fans came down before they travelled to Walsall to watch the first team and the atmosphere was really good.

“It gave the lads a real buzz so it would be nice if we could recreate that on Saturday.”

The fixture will kick-off at 11am on Saturday 12 October. For full details, click here.
