Double Signing For Notts Ladies

21 October 2013

Notts County Ladies are delighted to have secured the services of England duo Sophie Bradley and Jess Clarke, as both put pen to paper on two-year deals.

Winger Clarke and defender Bradley, had been with Lincoln Ladies since 2010, when the club became one of the founding members of the league. Whilst with the Lincolnshire club they became regulars, with almost 50 appearances between them in just three seasons.

The pair have impressed not only domestically but internationally, amassing over 60 caps between them. As well as both being regulars in the England squad, they were selected for Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics, Clarke unfortunately missing out through injury.

Clarke and Bradley, famously nicknamed Zig and Zag in a television interview with the FA, first started playing together when Bradley joined Leeds United in 2006, Clarke having been with the club since Under 14 level.

Chief Executive Luke Negus-Hill was pleased to secure the services of both players, “We have been delighted with how Sophie and Jess have performed for the team since joining three years ago, and for them to commit to our vision shows the strong future we have got. Both players were an integral part for the team last season, as were many others, and to have signed them up for two years gives Rick (Manager Rick Passmoor) the chance to really build on last season.”

Bradley was also delighted to have put pen to paper, saying: “The facilities available to us here in Nottingham are brilliant. There’s an exciting future to be had with this football club and when I spoke to Luke and Rick I knew it was where I wanted to be. They all share a vision, and so do I, and I believe we can achieve it, if I didn’t I wouldn’t have signed.”

Clarke was also pleased to have committed her services, adding: “I’ve been happy working with the manager over the past season and this gives me the opportunity to work further with him as well as a strong squad of girls. I’m excited for the future and can’t wait to get started.”

An interview with Sophie and Jess will be available on Magpie Player.
