Notts County will soon climb the table if they continue to deliver performances like that against Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to first team manager Shaun Derry.
The Magpies were unfortunate to come away from Saturday’s Meadow Lane fixture empty handed, after a committed display against the Sky Bet League 1 high flyers.
Derry was full of praise for his team regardless of the scoreline and has called for the same levels of commitment moving forward.
He said: “We need to play like that every time we go onto that field and if we do we’re going to get out of trouble.
“If we don’t, then we’ll be in trouble – it’s as simple as that.”
He continued: “I don’t think Wolves will have much harder games than what we gave them and I’m really proud of the players.
“I’ve told them that they can’t just turn it on against Wolves, it needs to be every single week – every single time we go over that white line.
“We didn’t deserve to lose for many reasons and the disappointment’s going to last quite a long time on that one.
“I’m gutted with that but I was delighted with everyone that came through the doors.
“All the fans were right behind the boys and we’re going to need every single one of them between now and the end of the season.”
