Magpies Out Of U21 Cup

20 November 2013

A late strike from Eusebio Bangessi saw Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s knock Notts County development squad out of the Barclay’s Under-21 Premier League Cup on Wednesday evening.

Notts stood up well to the established Wolves side throughout the 90 but suffered an early blow when Bangessi added his first of the evening with a back-post header from a Robbie Parry cross.

The Magpies felt that they should have been level at the break, as Tyrell Waite nodded David Bell’s cross past away stopper Jonathan Flatt, only to have the goal controversially ruled out for offside.

On 58, County finally got onto even terms through Andy Haworth, whose 25-yard hit deflected away from Flatt and inside the right-hand post.

The game looked set for extra time but Bangessi struck again just six minutes from time to make it 2-1 - the final score.

A searching cross from the left had found the wideman unmarked inside the box and he rifled unstoppably into the top-right corner to send Wolves into the final 16.
