Duo Inspire County Youngsters

19 November 2013

Development squad players Kyle Dixon and Jordon Holt recently dipped back into the Academy to help inspire the club’s 12-16s.

The duo visited a training session held at the Charnwood Football Centre in Clifton and held a coaching session.

Shooting was the top priority with a crossing drill, before the pair enjoyed a question and answer session.

The young Magpies learnt about technique, fitness, nutrition and what impact football has on their social lives.

Dixon came through the club’s Academy, having joined at the age of 14, whilst Jordon Holt was part Hull City’s youth programme.

Dixon was delighted to go back to where it all started and offer tips and share his experiences with the club’s future talent.

He explained: “I really enjoyed it, I love doing coaching and especially with the younger lads here at the club.

“It brings me back to where I used to be a few years back and it means a lot to give something back.

“I can remember when we had special coaches or players come down, I always wanted to impress and give it that extra.”

Welsh Under 21 international Jordon Holt added: “I hope they learned a little from the session we gave.

“They are a good set of lads and seemed to take on our thoughts on board.

“The enthusiasm and energy is all there to see. “

Lead development phase coach Dan Leivers, who organised the visit, welcomed the young professionals.

He said: “It’s great to have them come down and we obviously want there to be a connection from the first team right down to our youngest age groups.

“Obviously Kyle has been through the system here, so it shows the boys that there is a progression system in place.

“It’s important to see that they can make it.”
