Derry Has Seen The Light

22 November 2013

First team manager Shaun Derry is looking for consistency in Notts County’s performances following signs of promise last weekend.

Notts delivered one of their best showings of 2013.14 against table toppers Wolverhampton Wanderers and were unlucky to come out of the fixture empty handed.

Similar performance levels in the upcoming encounters with the Shrews, Bradford City and Brentford will no doubt deliver valuable points, as the Magpies aim to climb away from the foot of the Sky Bet League 1 table.

Derry believes that more of the same commitment against Shrewsbury Town at Greenhous Meadow will give his side a great chance of returning to Meadow Lane with three points in tow for the first time this term.

He told the press: “I’ve tried to stress this to the boys, it doesn’t matter how well you play against the likes of Wolves or Liverpools away at Anfield, it’s your bread and butter games that need to take care of themselves.

“We have to be in same frame of mind that we approached Saturday’s game in if we’re going to come away from Shrewsbury with anything this weekend.

“That seems to be the regular theme for this season at the minute, when you think that there’s light at the end of the tunnel we’ve gone and let ourselves down.

“I’m hoping that isn’t going to be the case this weekend because I saw the light on Saturday.

“I’m hoping that we can kick on now and start getting some wins under our belts.”
