Haydn Ready To Hit The Ground Running

14 May 2013

Defender Haydn Hollis is determined to show exactly why he was given an extended contract at Meadow Lane in the upcoming campaign.

Hollis agreed a three-year deal with the club on Monday afternoon, following an impressive conclusion to 2012.13, and wants to make an impact in his first year.

The promising centre-back has been set the challenge of nailing down a regular starting berth by first team manager Chris Kiwomya.

Fellow centre-backs Manny Smith, Dean Leacock and Gary Liddle will offer stern competition but the 20-year-old has every belief that he can work his way up the pecking order if he maintains the right approach to his game.

“It shows that the gaffer has confidence in me by giving me three years and it’s exactly what I wanted as a Notts lad,” he told the official site.

“The gaffer has said when I come back that it’s a level playing field so my aim is to work my way into the team.

“I’m going to come back in the best shape possible to give myself the best chance of gaining that first team spot, as I’m not here just to sit around.

“I’ve had a taster and I know that this level is not beyond me but I’ve got to prove that to the manager.

“He’s not just going to hand me my chance, I’ve got to earn it by working hard every day.

“There’s some strong competition because they’re all good players and I aim to push them all the way.

“I’ll be working hard during the summer so that I can hit the ground running when we return for pre-season training.”

Keep checking back to the official site for all the latest transfer activity this summer.
