Captain Neal Bishop has dismissed talk that he may be set to leave Meadow Lane in the summer.
Last week, reports in the press linked Bishop with a move away from the club but the midfielder has no plans to depart.
The consistent 31-year-old is currently the Magpies’ longest serving player, having arrived from Barnet in 2009, and has one year remaining on his contract.
“As far as I’m concerned, I’ve got another year on my contract here, which I signed two years ago,” Bishop told Magpie Player.
“I was more than happy to do that if I played a certain amount of games this season it kicked in.
“Obviously the situation here is a bit up in the air with other players being out of deals and not knowing who’s going to be in charge next season, although we’d all love it to be Chris.
“We owe Chris a few performances to help him stake a claim for the job but my situation is that I’ve got a contract until next season.
“Unless someone tells me otherwise, that’s where we are.”
